Our Story

Eastern Vehicle Services began its journey in the sailing and yachting industry back in 1998. Our founder, James Peters, started as an engineer aboard multi-million-dollar vessels, mastering their intricate systems before rising through the ranks to become a captain. Later, as a project manager for one of the world’s most prestigious yacht manufacturers, James further honed his expertise in high-end vessel maintenance, builds, and operations.

In 2018, James partnered with Mat Rosa, a former first mate (2006–2010), who had launched a small startup in South Florida specializing in van interiors. That venture has grown and continues to thrive today. During this time, James recognized the striking similarities between the yachts he specialized in and the custom vans being built—both requiring precision, innovation, and quality craftsmanship.

Since then, James has remained deeply involved in yacht project management and refits with Eastern Vessel Service, which includes yacht management, driving classes, yacht delivery, maintenance, and some repairs. All this and steadily bringing these skills and experience into the world of vehicle conversions. Eastern Vans and Conversions is the result of that evolution—delivering the same high standard of service to those on the road as we do on the water.

Looking Ahead

Now, in 2025, we’re proud to announce the opening of our new service and build-out center in Savannah, Georgia. As demand has grown, so have we—expanding our capabilities to meet the needs of our clients.
